An 18-wheeler packs enough force and weight to completely alter a person’s life if a crash ever occurs. The catastrophic injuries and lengthy periods of recovery in the aftermath of a trucking accident can put a huge strain in your family’s life. Two men from Jefferson County know just how difficult dealing with a trucking accident can be, but they’re now fighting for the justice they feel they deserve.
A Heavy Hazard
According to the complaint filed in September with the Jefferson County District Court, the two men were the victims of an accident that occurred as they drove east on state Highway 73. They claim a man, towing a trailer in the same direction they were driving, failed to regulate his speed and lost control. This allegedly caused a collision between the two parties.
The lawsuit names the trucker, the trucking company he works for and the trucker’s father, who happens to be the owner of the company. The men claim they suffered/have been dealt:
- Physical pain
- Mental anguish
- Disfigurement
- Impairment
- Medical costs
- Loss of wages
- Property damages
- Repair costs
The plaintiffs are seeking compensation totaling over $200,000 but less than $1 million, pre-judgment interest at the highest rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the allowed legal rate, costs and any other amounts the court allows.
